This symposium on Anni and Josef Albers was organized on the occasion of Anni and Josef Albers: Art and Life at the Musée d'Art Moderne de Paris. In the morning session, Lucille Encrevé, Ida Soulard, Clara Solomon, and Juri-Apollo Drews consider the work of Anni Albers (in French). The afternoon session features Fritz Horstman, Andrew Seguin, Matthias Persson, and Louis Valentin on the work of Josef Albers (in French and English).

On the occasion of the upcoming exhibition Anni and Josef Albers: Art and Life at the Musée d'Art Moderne de Paris, Nicholas Fox Weber speaks with Fabrice Hergott, director of the museum. Moderated by Édouard Détaille, the conversation considers the dialogue between Josef and Anni Albers as revealed in their abundant artistic production, as well as their travels and experience moving from Berlin to North Carolina.

Matière Workshop with Fritz Horstman

Fritz Horstman, education director at the Albers Foundation, presented this workshop in association with Black Mountain College Museum + Arts Center on March 13, 2021.

The session begins with a brief look at how Josef Albers and others at the Bauhaus included the Matière in their classroom experiments, and then transitions to hands-on activities and discussion.
